About Erste Group Bank

Erste Group Bank is the holding company of Erste Bank, Austria's first savings bank founded in 1819. However, the company has grown beyond its home country to number around 2,090 branches throughout Central and Eastern European that serve more than 16 million customers. The company has operating subsidiaries in Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Serbia, and Romania, as well as an indirect presence in four other countries in the region. Erste Group banks provide financial services, such as savings and lending to individuals and small to medium-size businesses. About half of its sales were generated from Austria.​

Operations



The company operates in two geographic segments: Austria and Central and Eastern Europe, both generated half of the company's sales.

Its Austria segment comprises of the Erste Bank Oesterreich & Subsidiaries (EBOe & Subsidiaries) which includes the Erste Bank der oesterreichischen Sparkassen AG (Erste Bank Oesterreich) and its main subsidiaries (e.g. sBausparkasse, Salzburger Sparkasse, Tiroler Sparkasse, Sparkasse Hainburg); the Savings Banks segment which includes those savings banks that are members of the Haftungsverbund (cross-guarantee system) of the Austrian savings banks sector; and other Austria segment comprises Erste Group Bank AG (Holding) with its Corporates and Group Markets business, Erste Group Immorent GmbH, Erste Asset Management GmbH and Intermarket Bank AG. ​
